Would you want to work for you? 🤔
Would you want to work for you? 🤔
Five o'clock yesterday and the final session of the day, my client made a comment, which really made me sit up and my seat and take notice.
He said I'm realising that we finally building a business that I would actually want to work for.
Now it's really important to know that these guys, before we started working together, they had a pretty good culture. They're two business owners who are really open, really growth-orientated, and are willing to have hard conversations with themselves and with their team.
What we’ve been working on for the last 9 months is really focusing on growing the people side of their business, so we've clarified the vision and the values for the business, with really invested in team development.
We've worked on embedding 1 on 1 sessions with team members every week. We've really focused on developing the business leaders coaching skills, and it's starting to pay off.
They're playing the long game, but it's starting to pay off.
Not just in the financial performance of the business, where they're on track to have their best year yet, but it's also the environment, the culture on a day-to-day basis. It's just a much more enjoyable place to work and they're spending less time within the business.
I wonder, what it is that you're building?
I wonder, how you would ask answer that same question?
Would you want to work for you?
And if not, what needs to change?
