Use What You Have…
This weights bench has served me since I was a teenager.
It’s slightly unsteady, creaks under heavy weight and looks an eyesore (how good is that plaid vinyl!).
Back in the early 90s, my parents didn't have a lot of money, but Dad was a master of using what he had.
He scrounged some scrap metal from the factory where he worked, bought hardware from the local Mitre 10 and spent a weekend putting it all together.
Could I find a couple hundred bucks for a new one? Of course.
But every-time I use it I'm reminded of several life lessons Dad taught me:
🤔 Use what you have, to do what you can.
🤔 Gym memberships don’t get you fit.
🤔 Every generation stands on the shoulders of those gone before them.
I think I might keep it around for a few more years.
REFLECTION QUESTION
What resources or capabilities do you have (today) that you’re not using?
