3 Tips for Building Faster Rapport

Here’s 3 tips to help build faster rapport with your prospects, customers and team.

1. Get out of your head and into theirs.

Before you start a conversation, before you try and communicate your point, get in the practice of FIRST identifying your partners communication preferences.

Once you’ve identified their needs you can adjust your message to match and you’ll get a much better result..

But if you don’t you’ll always struggle communicating with people who have a different style to you.

2. Focus on THEIR rate of speech

Imagine jogging side by side with the person you’re talking to, if you’re talking too fast it’s like you’re running ahead and leaving your partner behind and they might never catch-up, but if you’re talking too slow, you’re lagging behind them, they’ll get bored and run off ahead.

Get in sync with their tempo, not too fast, not slow.

3. Identify their priority

Where’s their priority? People or Task?

Are they focused more on making connection with you or are they more interested in task at hand?

When you miss someone’s priority, they feel like you’re just not on the same page as them.

So if it seems they’re prioritising people, show interest in them personally, and if they’re more focused on the task, cut to the chase and get to the point.
