Sorry Alex - i took my birthday off
Serial entrepreneur Alex Hormozi recently commented that he has little respect for people who make a big deal of their birthdays. Here’s the post:
Sorry to disappoint you, Alex, but I took mine off earlier this week.
I had pancakes for breakfast, walked ‘Mr. 4’ to preschool, read a book (guilt-free), went shopping, and topped it all off with a beautiful dinner in Sumner with my wife.
It was a *bloody* good day.
Although Alex might have - I didn’t get into business to accumulate more wealth than the GDP of a developing nation. I want financial freedom, sure—but I also want to be someone who pauses to savour life’s moments, not just someone chasing the next big profit goal.
Before you think I’m about to push *The 4-Hour Work Week* on you, don’t worry. I’m not pretending to be the finished product here. In fact, my wife would tell you I tend to lean more toward the ‘work’ side of the work-life balance. And from my experience, that’s true for most business owners too.
But here’s the thing, if you’re going to build a business you truly LOVE - yes, profit is critical, but you also need to consider the quality of your experiences along the way.
Which do you score higher in—money or experiences?
What changes could help you boost your score?
I’m wondering - do you take your birthday off?
