Victory VS Defeat
Are you leading a successful expedition or one that is doomed to fail? 🤔
Robert Falcon Scott was an inspirational leader who enrolled a great number of people in the pursuit of his vision to be the first human to reach the South Pole.
Whilst Scott did actually reach the South Pole, he wasn’t ‘the first’, and his poor planning and execution cost him and his team their lives. ☠
The man who beat him was Norwegian adventurer Roald Amundsen. 🇳🇴
Amundsen summed up the reason for his success in this famous quote...
“Victory waits him who has everything in order — luck people call it. Defeat is certain for him who has neglected to take the necessary precautions in time; this is called bad luck.” 💯👊
Like the Antarctic, business is also a high stakes game. You and your team won’t pay with your lives, but instead with your morale and bank account.
Your team relies on you (the leader) delivering more than just a good pep talk - they need to be supplied with a plan to follow and the resources required to succeed. 👌
So, if you’ want to build a winning team, consider these questions.
Am I a leader who leaves no stone unturned in my preparation for our mission?
Or, like Scott, is my own lack of planning causing my team to suffer?
