Forever Grateful
Gutted to hear AuCom Electronics founder Ray Archer has passed away (pictured here with his wife Kathy). 🙁
I joined AuCom straight out of University, and though Ray had stepped back from the business at that point, his presence could not be missed.
One of my first memories of Ray was him asking if he could clear my rubbish bin, quickly followed by him asking if he could ‘pour me a drink’. 🛢🍷
Ray was retired, and drove an Aston Martin, he didn’t need to be clearing anything. But he took pleasure in doing the job every Wednesday, and it was humbling to watch.
Ray was not only generous to his employees but also to those in less fortunate communities. Each AuCom employee was assigned a sponsor child and given 1-hour each quarter to write them a letter. We had close to 140 employees when I left, so this was no small feat! 🎁
I didn’t realise it at the time, but the culture that he and his family created at AuCom was not only world class but something which would have a lifelong effect on me. 🙏
I’ll forever be grateful for the lessons you taught me Ray, see you soon.
